Seribu Islands Residents Urged to Be Aware of Fires During Mudik Road Trips

The North Jakarta and Seribu Islands Fire and Rescue Sub-agencies call on residents to always alert to the potential for fires during the 2023 mudik exodus.

We always urge residents to always be vigilant

This action was realized by setting up posts at each port to socialize threats and ways to deal with fires.

North Jakarta and Seribu Islands Fire and Rescue Sub-agencies's Sector VII Head, Yuli Syahroni stated during the socialization, residents were prompted to check electrical installations before leaving their homes to prevent fires due to electrical short circuits, including making sure the gas cylinder connector is in a detached state.

What to Prepare Before You Leave for Mudik Road Trip

"Fire incidents on the island are very rare. However, we always urge residents to always be vigilant," he expressed, Sunday (4/16).

Before mudik, they were also urged immediately report to neighbors, RT and RW administrators, and entrust the keys to someone they can trust.

"If anyone has pets, they should be entrusted to neighbors or animal care," he continued.

He also reminded them to immediately contact or visit the nearest fire station if they experience a fire accident or find wild animals.

"If an accident occurs, you don't need to panic. Pay attention to burning objects and then extinguish them with a portable rire extinguisher (APAR)," he stated.
